Prayers for Our Nation
On Sunday the President of the Federal Republic visited the Redeemed Christian Church of God and worshipped together with the General Overseer of the church, Pastor E.A Adeboye. During his presentation he mentioned that the insecurity prevalent in the country, in particular is the issue with the Haram boys, could have been 'worse' had it not been for prayers offered on the Nation's behalf.
Social media was wroth by this statement, with most asking 'Is it prayer that will stop the killings in the north?'. It is rather alarming because we thought Nigeria is predominantly religious and people intelligent enough to know that once you abandon your first love (God), there is bound to be turmoil in the land. In the book of 2Chronicles chapter 15 verses 2 to 5, it is clearly stated what becomes of people that stray from the Lord.
Our role model, America now has a liberal government readily adopting gay societies, abortion rights and just of recent, a state legalised Marijuana (Washington also). On the other hand, the country is also plagued with unemployment, debt, and security threats of magnitude comparable, if not greater than, the one we are suffering in this country.
It seems ignorant, in a way, to make excuses for the incompetence we suspect and very well experience in our government, from the Federal to the grassroots, by blaming this menace on religious principles made or ignored. But it is more ignorant to make common, or worse not recognize, the esteemed place of God in the country or it's affairs. Our country does need prayers. A word........of #responz.
