That's the number of people that were mindlessly murdered in Borno state some days back accredited to the Islamist sect, 'Haram'. Who would have thought that such a number, as large as it is, could be among the dreaded in our Country. The State governor of Borno met with the President thereafter, to tell him that our Soldiers are less motivated and less armed as compared to the Haram boys. Whether or not that is true is more puzzling than interesting but I am just dissapointed at how our government has proven so incompetent in eliminating this menace. Our armed forces prove themselves a joke in the light of this news. The report says these boys moved door-to-door, searching for people to kill for about 5 hours. 5 hours!! And in all this time no security agency or personnel fought back or interfered. I begin to imagine that it would have been a better story to hear that some soldiers fought but were out-gunned or they reported at the scene but were defeated than to hear that a slaughter ensued for hours without any action. Yet, coward soldiers take refuge in the south harassing innocent people. Where are you, O brave one when your nation needs you? Today the heros are those 106 men and women killed like poultry without the protection their nation promised them. The heroes are the young killed before manifesting their potential and those whose destiny have been cut short by the evil that plagues our land. The heroes are the children who have lost their parents, relatives left to mourn their dead and a grieving nation suffering in insecurity. Salute to the heroes!!!
