Facebook just bought WhatsApp!

Woke to the news of facebook's acquisition of one of the biggest messenger application in the world, WhatsApp. The deal is worth about 16 billion dollars in stock and in cash (i.e 12 billion in facebook shares and 4 billion in cash). A staggering sum I must say. Thinking about it now, it does seem like yesterday when a friend introduced me to this messenger that has grown an integral part of my life, and I believe I speak for about 450 million users too if I should say, 'our lives'. It's convenient, reliable, cheap and effective. More perplexing are the details of the deal. We users are wondering just what this'll mean; is it increase in price or tariff, more ads(we all know how fb likes those things), or changes in services. But both WhatsApp CEO and the guys at facebook have promised no changes at all. They say everything will be the same. Facebook even said staff retention, same HQ and an inclusion of the CEO, Jan Koum in their board is part of the deal. This is hardly believable and begs the question 'Then why buy it for $16B ?'. Facebook claims they will treat the deal as they do Instagram. Anyways, now we have an old messenger with new owners, Facebook Inc. Who wouldn't #respond to that.
